Batsafari

From mid-July to mid-September you can take part in a bat safari in Tafjord.

Joining a safari together with other people is open to anyone. We can also arrange bat safaris for companies, associations or other groups that require a private arrangement. Groups should not exceed 20 persons.

All participants will receive a bat certificate at the end of the safari. The bat safaris are held in Norwegian and/or English.

The bat safari commences at 10pm and lasts about two hours. We assemble at the hydro power museum. You will learn about bats in Norway generally and in Tafjord in particular, and about why Tafjord has so many bats. Pictures of the different species and sound recordings of bats hunting are presented.

After this, the group goes out into the darkness of the evening to watch the bats hunting, listens to them with sound detectors, watches them and follows them with special lighting in order to see how the hunting is carried out.

We recommend that participants wear warm clothing and good shoes.
