BatsMost people who have been outdoors in Tafjord during the evening or night have noticed the active bat life in the village. It seems that Tafjord in several respects is an ideal place for bats. Amongst other things, it's mild, the sea water has a relatively low salt content and, not least, the biology is ideal for the small insects on which the bats depend. The most usual bats in Tafjord are the Common Pipistrelle and the Northern Bat, but there are some other species such as the Noctule, with its 15-inch wingspan.
