The
museum of hydroelectric
power
in Tafjord
In 1917, the industry really started
to take off in Tafjord and with the construction of the first power
station: Tafjord 1, a new adventure had begun. The station was complete
in 1923 and supplied population and industry with electrical power
for over 60 years. |
In 1991, the new museum in Tafjord opened with the same machines and equipment that was used in the working period. It became a tourist attraction. |
Thousands of visitors are stopping by the old station every summer to see how the water was transformed to electrical power, and to experience how a power station was build early in the 20. century. |
You can visit the museum every
day between 12:00 and 17:00 in the period 20. June - 10. August. |
